Skyline Arch, Utah

Skyline Arch, a natural sandstone arch or window eroded out of a sandstone fin in the Windows area of Arches National Park, Utah, USA.

This arch is the only arch in the national park which sits on the skyline, giving it its name, and making it visible from many points in the park.

In 1940, a large boulder fell from the arch, instantly doubling the size of the arch. The arch now has a span of 71 feet (21.6 m) and a height of 33.5 feet (10.2 m). Normally changes to arches are much slower and subtler!
