A beautiful Red-tailed Tropicbird, Phaethon rubricauda, flying over Nosy Be island, off south-west Madagascar, against a clear, blue sky.
Red-tailed Tropicbirds are seabirds widely distributed in the Indian Ocean and tropical parts of the Pacific ocean. They nest on oceanic islands in these areas. Adult birds are almost completely white, sometimes with a pinky/peach tinge, and have very long, red, tail streamers.
