Hobatere Lodge, Namibia

Guest 'hut' at Hobatere Lodge This is the room I had at Hobatere Lodge. Very comfortable, and equipped with mosquito nets. The Lodge is powered by generator, so the electricity goes off quite early, but the rooms are supplied with a rechargeable-battery-powered safari lamp. The food at this lodge was delicious.
Red-billed Hornbills The lodge has a small swimming pool, and a birdbath, with picturesque pieces of dead tree scattered around for the birds to sit on, or in this case, to be used as a feeder. These Red-billed Hornbills ate at least their fair share.
Geckos mating These Geckos (anyone know the species?) were mating on a low wall by the pool, impervious to three manic photographers intent on recording the scene for posterity.
At Hobatere Lodge, which is right on the edge of Etosha, the main activities are bush walks, game drives, night drives and a hide over a waterhole, where you can sit for as long as you like. There is also a tree house where a couple can spend the night, equipped with a searchlight and night vision binoculars, over a smaller waterhole.
